Ms. Jeanette earned her Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Western Michigan University and holds a Master's Degree in Education. She has over 14 years of experience in early childhood education and is passionate about helping young children learn, grow, and reach their full potential.

I chose Early Childhood Education because I have a genuine love for working with and being around children. Helping them learn, grow, and discover the world brings me so much joy. One of my favorite quotes to share with young children is, “You get what you get, and you don’t throw a fit.” It’s a simple reminder about gratitude and patience. I also love saying, “Turn that frown upside down,” to encourage positivity and resilience.
I now have my Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, and I’m excited to continue using what I’ve learned to make a positive impact in children’s lives every day.

Watching and learning alongside the children as they grow and develop has been one of the greatest achievements of my life. Child Development fascinates me, and being able to be a small part of their beginning to education is such an honor.

Ms. Sui - Afterschool/Food Assistant
Ms. Sui is from Kalaymyo, Burma. She is a mother of two and loves to work for Woodlawn Preschool. She loves the students and helping them inside the classroom. She loves providing both snack and lunch and when she isn't enjoying time with the students here at Woodlawn, she is using her free time to garden as a way of relaxing.
Ms. Winnie - Afterschool/Food Assistant
Ms. Winnie came to us from Myanmar. She loves to interact with the students during both lunch time and afterschool care. She brings a lot of culture to our students and enjoys the History Woodlawn Preschool has to offer.

I hold a CDA in preschool education. It chose me! I saw in my own nephew the strides early childhood education was making back in the ‘90’s and was excited to get in at ‘the ground level’ so to speak. What we teach children when they’re young carries on for a lifetime. I would love for the children to all be able to problem solve before they leave me. Problem solving is so important when when we’re young and gives a sense of independence and self reliance.

I love to watch the children learn and develop and knowing I get to be a part of it makes me happy and so worth it to see them smile.
I want my children to learn that each and everyone is unique and special in their own way and to always be kind to others and to just have fun while learning and developing.

No, I do not have my CDA yet, and I don’t know if I’m going to get it yet.

I chose early education because I love working with kids, seeing them grow, and teaching them new things.

I want them to learn their ABCs, how to use gentle hands, and how to be nice to each other.

Do you have a degree or CDA? Yes, I have a CDA and have plans to further my education. Why did you choose early education? I was inspired to choose early education after seeing how beneficial it was for my daughter. I wanted to help make a difference for other children.
What do you want students to learn in your class? I want my students to learn to explore! To try new things, make new friends, and use their imagination to the fullest! A curious child is a child that is receptive to learning.

1. I currently have my CDA in Preschool Education, and I am working toward completing my Early Childhood Education degree at Kellogg Community College (KCC). I am expected to graduate in December 2027. I am excited to continue learning and growing as an early childhood educator.
2. I chose early childhood education because I have always enjoyed being around children and have had a natural connection with them. When I started my first job at a preschool in 2017, I knew right away that this was where I was meant to be. I love being able to teach, encourage, and support children during such an important time in their development.
3. When my students leave my classroom, I want them to have learned skills that will help prepare them for their next stage of education. I hope they can recognize their colors, shapes, numbers, and letters, while also developing important social-emotional skills. I especially want them to learn how to identify and express their feelings, communicate with others, be kind, and become more independent and confident.
4. “Never stop dreaming and always keep reaching for your dreams. You can do anything you set your mind to.”
I want my students to know that they are capable of great things. I encourage them to believe in themselves, keep trying, and never give up on their dreams.

1.) I am currently working towards furthering my education in the field of Early Childhood Education. My goal is to earn an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education and complete my CDA certification. I am excited to continue growing as an educator and expanding my knowledge to better support the children in my care.
2.) I chose early childhood education because I truly enjoy being a part of children's development during such an important stage of their lives. I love watching children learn, discover new things, and grow in confidence and independence. I was also inspired by the educators who positively impacted my own life and helped shape me into the person I am today. Their influence inspired me to follow this path, and I hope to make that same meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of the children I teach.
3.) I want my students to develop a love for learning while building the skills they need to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
I believe it is important to teach children independence, encourage them to believe in their abilities, and help them build confidence in their educational journey.

I do not currently have my CDA. It has expired but can absolutely get it again.
2- Why did you choose early education?
I chose early childhood education because nurturing and caring for children has always felt like a natural part of who I am. Even before I began working in this field, I was helping care for my younger siblings. I like to say that I’ve always had that “nurturing gene.”
After 20 years in early childhood education, I still feel like this is where I belong. I have always had an ability to connect with children on a different level. I feel I am able to understand what they may be trying to communicate, meet them where they are, and find a way to reach them when they are struggling. I love being someone they can feel safe with while also helping them learn, grow, and become confident in who they are. For me, early childhood education has never felt like just a job or simply a career I chose. It feels like something I was meant to do.
3- What do you want your students to learn in your class?
I want my students to begin building the academic skills they will need as they grow, such as recognizing letters, numbers, shapes, and other early concepts. But just as importantly, I want them to grow as individuals. I want to help build their confidence and independence so they feel proud of what they can do for themselves. I want them to develop strong social and communication skills, learn how to express their wants and needs, interact with their peers, solve problems, and build relationships.
My goal is for them to leave my classroom not only knowing more than when they came in, but also feeling more confident, capable, and comfortable being themselves.
